What is the Sacred Heart Diet

The diet is a 7-day meal plan that can be used as often as a person would want to. If it is correctly followed, it cleans out the body’s impurities and provides a feeling of well being.

This plan exists in various forms, but all are just fairly similar. It has been known as a fad diet for years. This is known to be an urban myth. The myth conveys that it originated and formulated from the cardiology department of Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital. It was primarily for overweight heart patients.

It became a matter of concern for it only allows a very limited variety and quantity of food intake. This 7-day meal plan goes together with a low calorie soup. The soup promotes a very low calorie intake during the entire week program.

Risks

The implementation of the Sacred Heart Diet comes along with some risks, just like any other diet program. It is utilized to limit strictly the food that is a daily diet for 7 days. This means that the vitamins and minerals the body needs to have a healthy living are limited as well. The nutrients the body requires to be stronger and healthier may be limited as well.

Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers need extra caution in implementing this diet regimen. The plan could contribute to major harmful impacts to the baby due to lack of vitamins and minerals.

Advantages

Sacred Heart Diet comes with a number of advantages as long as it is done at a moderate pace, with healthy consumption an regular exercise. Other than losing a significant weight, this program may reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

It is recommended to religiously follow the guidelines of the diet plan. However, it is still best to consult with your doctor regarding this regimen.

The Soup Recipe Exclusively for Sacred Heart Diet

The ingredients needed are:
  • 1 to 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  • 3 large green onions
  • 1 large can of beef broth, make sure there’s no fat
  • 1 package Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
  • 2 cans green beans
  • 2 lbs. carrots
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 bunch of celery

Season with salt, pepper, curry, bouillon, parsley, or Worcestershire sauce. Cut the vegetables in small to medium pieces. Add water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender.

The soup can be eaten anytime whenever hungry all throughout the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. It is very low in calories that it will not add up to your current calorie level.

Allowable beverage to consume are unsweetened juices preferably fresh, tea, herbal tea, coffee with less sugar, cranberry juice, and most importantly, water.

The 7-day Meal Plan

Day 1. All fruits day

Start the first day with the all fruits diet, except banana.  Grab and eat the fruits you wanted in any quantity, without limitations.  Eat until you are full.  Do not limit to one fruit alone, have as many fruits as you can.  Cantaloupes and watermelon are recommended and are lower in calories compared to other fruits. Fruit juices will do, but not with preservatives.  Drink at least 7 glasses of water.  Eat only soup and fruit today. Remember, NO BANANA. 

Day 2. All vegetables day

May it be cooked or eaten raw, today is your vegetable day.  Just like day 1, eat as much vegetables as you can, raw or cooked, without any limitations.  Avoid cooking the vegetable in oil.  Drink at least 7 glasses of water today. Consume vegetables and soup today. Make sure not to eat any fruits.

Day 3. Fruits and Vegetables

Consume a mixture of soup, fruits and vegetables, without limitations.  Eat until your stomach is full.  Reward yourself with one banana today, just one.  Make sure not to have a baked potato. At this day, if religiously followed, you could have lost 5 to 7 pounds.

Day 4. Bananas, Vegetable and Milk

Start your breakfast with 2 bananas, a glass of milk and the soup.  Do the same for lunch.  For dinner, have the soup, 2 bananas, vegetable and one glass of milk.  Consume 6 bananas for this day, a small quantity of vegetables and 3 glasses of milk.  Bananas are known to be high in calories and carbohydrates, just the same with the milk. By this day, the body needs potassium and carbohydrates.

Day 5. Beef and Tomatoes

This is the first day to have a taste of meat, only 10 to 20 oz. of beef.  Add six full medium-sized tomatoes.  Drink 10 glasses of water today. Make sure to eat the soup only once today.

Day 6. Beef and Vegetables

Eat as much as beef and vegetables today. If you want, you can have 2 to 3 steaks with green leafy vegetables, but without any potato. Make sure to consume the soup at least one serving today.

Day 7. Rice, Fruits and Vegetables

One cup of brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened fruit juice will do it today.  Be sure to have taken the soup. You can add cooked vegetables to the brown rice also.

After a week of religiously following the 7-day meal plan, a lighter feeling of at least 10 pounds to 17 pounds, with energy. At the end of the 7th day, and you have lost more than 17 pounds, halt the diet regimen for two days before resumption of the diet.

The Sacred Heart Diet works really fast. The principle behind is the burning of more calories than usually taken in. It is best to continue on this diet plan as long as you want, but it is most recommended to consult your doctor first.
